Since I self-published and launched my book Ive been getting a lot of questions and inquiries requesting tips on how I did it. So, it really got me thinking of how i can help other aspiring authors reach their ultimate goals in the writings sphere. I think that I’ve come up with the perfect idea and that is to create the SIMPLI Author’s Corner where I’ll discuss all things #AuthorLife. Lessons learned, tips and tricks to get your book written quickly, and also all things Self Publishing!

First up is a day in the life of an author ✍🏾. I’ll take you through a typical day when I was in the trenches of writing Secure Success!

Caffeine Me Please!

I prefer a cup of tea to a cup of coffee but I always start my writing days off with a good dose of caffeine to help me through a long day of writing.

No Distractions

To avoid distractions I tend to leave home and go somewhere like Starbucks, Panera, or the Library to write uninterrupted. My distractions are mostly watching television or just doing other things around the house. Now this was all pre-COVID-19 so going places were normal. If you can’t do that then find a quiet place at home and ask your family for a couple hours where they won’t disturb you. I’m sure this is easier said than done. The truth is that you have to dedicate time to your writing.

Build Author’s Platform

Spend time building your email list, posting to social media, engaging your followers & subscribers, and creating or updating your website.

Write! Write! Write!

Before you begin the writing process you should first take time to:

  • Assess how many words you’ve already written.
  • Assess how many words your book should have overall.
  • Determine how many words you still need to write.
  • Give yourself a word count to complete each day in order to finish by your target date.
  • Write until you’ve reached your daily word count
