On Saturday, my sister Cayci and I had the pleasure of attending an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority meeting in Detroit, Michigan. The meeting was made even more special by a surprise guest appearance from Hill Harper, a prominent celebrity and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. To celebrate this memorable occasion and continue the spirit of unity and activism, Cayci and I decided to have brunch at Mad Nice, a trendy restaurant in Detroit. In this blog post, I will share our experience at Mad Nice, offering a restaurant review while reflecting on the inspiring sorority meeting and the important message of voting.
Sorority Meeting with Hill Harper:
Our Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority meeting was an exceptional experience filled with sisterhood, empowerment, and a call to action. Hill Harper’s presence added an extra spark of excitement and inspiration to the event. His passionate words about community engagement, education, and the importance of using our voices to promote positive change resonated deeply with everyone in the room. The meeting reinforced our commitment to service and motivated us to be catalysts for progress in our communities.
Brunch at Mad Nice:
After the uplifting sorority meeting, Cayci and I headed to Mad Nice to continue our celebration and engage in sisterly bonding. Nestled in the heart of Detroit, Mad Nice welcomed us with its vibrant and contemporary ambiance. The restaurant’s stylish decor and comfortable seating created a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, perfect for an enjoyable brunch experience.
Culinary Delights:
Mad Nice’s brunch menu offered a diverse range of options to suit various tastes and preferences. From classic favorites to innovative creations, there was something for everyone. We started our brunch with freshly squeezed orange juice and hot cups of coffee, setting the tone for a delightful meal.
For our main courses, Cayci opted for the STEAK & EGG (petite roast, pickle veggies, garlic mayo, & sourdough toast topped with poached eggs) while I indulged in the BUCATINI CACIO E PEPE (pecorino romano, toasted peppercorn). Both dishes were beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We savored each bite, appreciating the culinary craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Message of Voting:
During our brunch at Mad Nice, Cayci and I took a moment to reflect on the message of voting that was emphasized during the sorority meeting. We discussed the importance of exercising our right to vote and empowering others to do the same. Mad Nice’s welcoming atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for our conversation, reminding us of the significance of engaging in civic duty and promoting positive change in our communities.
Conclusion:
Our Saturday brunch at Mad Nice was the perfect culmination of a memorable sorority meeting with Hill Harper and our commitment to fostering sisterhood and activism. The restaurant’s inviting ambiance, delectable cuisine, and attentive service created a delightful dining experience. As we left Mad Nice, we felt energized and inspired, ready to make a difference in our communities and encourage others to exercise their right to vote.
