  1. Define/Discuss Success & Expectations: Identify what the team’s success and expectations look like. You want all team members on the same page.
  2. Set Team Goals: This should be a joint effort, Team members should discuss team and individual goals they want to accomplish as it relates to the team’s success.
  3. Discuss Values & Respect: Take time to find out the values of your team members and what they believe constitutes respect.
  4. Discuss Responsibility & Commitment: Make sure each team member accepts their roles and responsibilities with in the team. Also make sure that they are committed to the team and the success of the team.
  5. Nurturing the Team Development: Offer praise & support.
  6. Make Sure Team Works Together: Utilize the collective to find solutions to difficult problems. Make sure everyone understands this concept as opposed to only working on their own.
  7. Lead by Example: Having Role models for the Team to look up to can add to a positive team culture.
  8. Be Patient: Teaming does not happen over night. There are growing pains associated with all teams especially when members are unfamiliar with working with each other.
  9. Communicate: Be sure that the lines of effective communication are open between members to each other, members to leader, and leader to members.
  10. Offer Team Building Activities: It’s important to lift morale by having team members interact outside of the work or teaming environment. This allows team members to get to know each other in a different light.
